This is a fantastic bean recipe using three different kinds of beans. It is a hearty side dish that is perfect for a get together!

Works well when done in crockpot too!

Feel free to try different beans, but I wouldn’t substitute the pork and beans as they add a lot to the finished dish.

I sometimes sub the butter beans with small white Kidney beans since they tend to be cheaper and turns out well. I’ve also tried black beans instead of the kidneys and turns out great too..

Serves 8-10

Ingredients:

1 pound lean ground beef or turkey

6 slices bacon

1/2 cup chopped onion

1/2 cup ketchup

1 tsp salt

1tsp dry mustard

2 tsp vineger

3/4 cup packed brown sugar

1 (15 oz) can kidney beans ( mostly drained)

1 (15 oz) can pork and beans ( mostly drained)

1 (15oz) can butter beans ( mostly drained)

Directions:

1) Fry bacon until crisp. Remove and reserve.

2) Fry ground meat in some of the bacon fat till done.

3) Drain meat.

4) Combine onion, ketchup, salt, mustard, vinegar, brown sugar, and mostly drained beans in a 3 quart oven dish.

Or combine in crockpot. If using crockpot drain beans well.

5) Mix well.

6) Add ground meat and crumbled bacon.

7) Bake at 350 for 40 minutes.

If using crockpot cover and cook on High 1-1 1/2 hours until heated through, or on low for 4 hours. until done.
